A group of exceptional students from the YICG’s Gita Vicara Leadership Program received a Citation of Recognition from the Nassau County Executive, Mr Bruce Blakeman for their outstanding contributions to the community.
The Gita Vicara Leadership Program intertwines ancient wisdom, interactive learning, and practical leadership into a rewarding experience. By exploring culture, board games design and developing innovative ideas, the program empowers youth and young adults to become confident, compassionate leaders.
In collaboration with ReWild Long Island, these high school seniors have spearheaded a series of impactful environmental outreach and education initiatives. Their work includes restoring native plant habitats, removing invasive species, educating the public on sustainable practices, and fundraising for ecological causes. They also created engaging, public-facing educational content and partnered with local organizations to educate their local communities.
Guided by dedicated mentors Rathi Raja and Madhu Allu, the students have demonstrated remarkable leadership and an unwavering commitment to protecting Long Island’s ecosystem.
“The shortest path to Leadership is developing the spirit of Service” said Rathi Raja.
Madhu Allu added, “What makes this truly special is that these outstanding students transformed learning into leadership in action"
