The theme of 'Prithvi~Mother Earth' was launched in 2022, with a commitment to tend to our Long Island back yards and front yards, learning about planting natives. A fortuitous connection with Raju Rajan of Rewild Long Island led to a fruitful collaboration in education and practice. Our 5X5 feet commitment was to dedicate a small bit of our own yards to plantings. Over 22 families participated in 2023! As can be seen in the clip below, it was a blessed journey indeed.

During our 2022-2023 year, we learned about native plants, pollinators, what we can do in our own backyards, and directly connect with Prithvi~Mother Earth. Our Ecodharma begins at home and no effort is too small. This project was also part of our Volunteer Seva points!

We raised $800 at the YICG Picnic for our Project Now - Rewild Long Island Initiative. And the group is excited about using these funds for supporting Mother Earth right here!

I am so grateful to see such a change being made in the community. The participation for our first year was better than I expected, and I can’t wait for next year! All our small actions created a big impact, remember that. I thank every single family that participated in this initiative. May we keep increasing biodiversity and climate resilience!
